Swimming

It all started when…

I was put into swim lessons at four years old. About a year later, I joined a swim club and started competing for thirteen more years.

Swimming holds a special spot in my heart because I did it for so long and it was something I was good at.

Throughout my childhood and teenager years, I qualified to swim at regional swim meets and got to travel to California multiple times to compete.

I also hold 40+ records for Puget Sound Swim Club in my hometown.

In high school, I competed in the Washington League, District, and State swim meets all four years. I took League and District titles and ranked 4th in the state while holding a school record in my main event.

After high school, I planned to swim for Pacific Lutheran University, but my passion for theatre grew and my life started to head in a different direction.

Swimming taught me a lot about myself. With two swim practices a day, I learned how to prioritize my time well. I’ve learned how to be patient with others and myself when things are not going the way you want them to. I’ve also learned and implemented the concept of having no fear and chasing after what you want. This came in handy when I started to pursue my career as an artist. At the end of the day, you are only trying to better yourself, whether you’re trying to better a time in a race or in your craft.

Swimming will always be a passion of mine and I hope to get back in the water soon. There were so many great memories and friends made during these years and I will be forever grateful for everything swimming has taught me as an athlete and as a person.
